Travel Further. Understand More. Get Lost for the Right Reasons.
Get Lost Forever started from a simple idea.
Travelling should be exciting, personal and meaningful. But sometimes, even before the trip begins, the planning process can make you tired.
There are hundreds of blogs, booking websites, social media posts and tour companies telling you where to go and what to book.
But the more you search, the more confusing it can get.
One website says one thing.
Another website says something completely different.
And most of them are trying to sell you something before properly explaining what the experience is actually like.
That is one of the main reasons why I started Get Lost Forever.
I’m Govind Rai, the founder of Get Lost Forever.
My connection with travelling began long before this website.
Growing up with a close connection to Nepal, I always felt that the country was much more than how it was normally shown to the outside world.
Most people hear Nepal and immediately think about Mount Everest.
Obviously, Everest is a big part of Nepal and something the country is proud of.
But Nepal is much more than one mountain.
It is the people, the food, the cities, the villages, the culture, the festivals, the landscapes and the small everyday experiences that most travellers only discover after arriving.
I wanted to create a website that helps travellers understand those things before they visit.
## Why I Started Get Lost Forever
Well, the main problem I noticed was that travel information was everywhere, but useful information was not always easy to find.
Some articles were outdated.
Some gave very little information apart from a list of attractions.
And some were written mainly to make you click a booking link.
There is nothing wrong with earning money from a travel website. Get Lost Forever will also use affiliate links in some places.
But I believe the information should still be honest.
A traveller should understand what they are booking, what the challenges are and whether the experience is right for them.
Not everything is suitable for everyone.
A difficult trek might be an amazing experience for one person and a complete nightmare for another.
A cheap tour might save you money, but it might also mean poor service, rushed travelling or problems that nobody mentioned before you booked.
So, the goal of Get Lost Forever is not only to tell you where to go.
It is to help you understand what to expect when you get there.
## What We Want to Help You With
Most travel planning begins with a few common questions.
Where should I go?
Which hotel should I book?
How much will it cost?
What are the best things to do?
These are important questions, but I believe travellers need more than that.
You should also know:
* What the journey is really like
* How difficult an activity might be
* What mistakes other travellers commonly make
* How much money you should realistically carry
* Whether the place is suitable for your interests and ability
* What transport is available
* What you should pack
* How to respect local people and traditions
* Who you can trust when booking a tour or activity
These are the types of things we want to explain.
Sometimes the small details can make a big difference.
Knowing that a road is under construction, that there are no petrol stations for many kilometres or that the weather can suddenly change may not sound exciting.
But when you are actually travelling, those details can save you a lot of time and problems.
## Starting With Nepal
Nepal is the first major destination we are focusing on.
This is because I have a personal connection with the country and understand many of the things that make travelling there special.
But I also know that travelling in Nepal can be confusing, especially for someone visiting for the first time.
Many people arrive knowing about Everest Base Camp, Kathmandu or Pokhara.
But after that, they may not know where else to go or how to plan the journey.
Even the popular experiences come with many questions.
How difficult is the Everest Base Camp trek?
Do you need a guide?
How much money should you budget?
When is the best time to visit?
What happens if the weather becomes bad?
How safe are the roads?
These are questions that should be answered properly before someone books a flight or pays for a tour.
Through Get Lost Forever, I want to make Nepal easier to understand.
That includes trekking guides, destination information, transport advice, safety tips, local experiences and honest information about the challenges.
Nepal is a beautiful country, but that does not mean every journey is easy.
The roads can be rough.
The weather can change plans.
Transport can be late.
And sometimes things simply do not go the way you expected.
But honestly, that is also part of the experience.
The important thing is to arrive prepared.
## Our Approach
The approach of Get Lost Forever is simple.
We research destinations carefully and try to explain both the good and bad sides.
We do not want to make every place sound perfect.
No destination is perfect.
And no tour, hotel or activity is right for every traveller.
So, where possible, we will explain who an experience is suitable for, how much it may cost and what problems you should prepare for.
We want our guides to be useful before, during and after your trip.
The website will cover topics such as:
* Destinations
* Trekking
* Activities
* Accommodation
* Transport
* Safety
* Culture
* Food
* Budgets
* Local tours and experiences
The goal is not to make the decision for you.
The goal is to give you enough information to make the right decision for yourself.
## How Get Lost Forever Makes Money
Some links on Get Lost Forever may be affiliate links.
This means that if you book a hotel, tour or activity through one of those links, we may receive a small commission.
You will not pay anything extra because of it.
The commission helps us operate the website and continue creating travel content.
However, I do not want commercial relationships to decide what information travellers receive.
If there is a problem with an experience, we should mention it.
If something is not suitable for beginners, we should explain that.
And if there is a better option available, travellers should know about it.
Making money is important for any business.
But once readers stop trusting the information, wallah problem begins.
Trust is more valuable in the long run.
We are also working on ways to connect travellers with suitable local tour operators.
This can be especially useful for more complicated trips, trekking routes or travellers who need more personal support while planning.
## What Get Lost Forever Means
The name Get Lost Forever does not mean that you should throw away your map and disappear somewhere without telling anyone.
Although sometimes getting slightly lost becomes the best part of the journey.
For me, getting lost can also mean becoming completely involved in a place.
It means forgetting about your normal routine for a while.
It might be a conversation with a local person, discovering a place you did not plan to visit or having an experience that stays in your mind long after you return home.
Those are the moments that make travelling meaningful.
You may forget the name of the hotel.
You may forget exactly how much the food cost.
But some memories remain with you for years.
That is the idea behind Get Lost Forever.
To travel in a way that stays with you.
## Where We Are Going
Get Lost Forever is still growing.
We are working on destination guides, trekking information, practical travel resources, videos and selected tours and experiences.
Nepal is only the beginning.
As the website grows, we want to use the same approach for destinations around the world.
The long-term goal is to create a travel brand that helps people explore new places with more confidence, curiosity and respect.
This is not about visiting as many countries as possible just to increase a number.
And it is not about rushing through a destination only to take a photo and leave.
It is about understanding the place.
Meeting the people.
Learning something new.
And hopefully returning home with a story that you will remember for a long time.
Welcome to Get Lost Forever.
